Phew - what a day of traveling - it's 4:26 AM eastern time and 1:26 AM Pacific time and we arrived at the hotel about 20 minutes ago. Everything went reasonably smoothly apart from a two hour delay in Hartford due to thunderstorms. I was impressed with how the team handled the long day and even more impressed with their personable nature and confident conversation skills with other passengers.
Relaxed day tomorrow - looking forward to exploring the area!

Sacramento Bound!

The progress and continued focus over the past two weeks of training have brought forth a number of technical changes that I personally can't wait to see in action. The fitness levels of the athletes, their attention to detail, and the team cohesion are fascinating to observe and compare to last year. It seems hard to believe that it was only a year ago that we were sitting in this same food court on the way to Oak Ridge, TN.
In other Trinity news, the men's baseball squad played in the first of two potential NCAA Championship baseball games this morning and lost their first game of the season 4-3 to put them to 44-1 on the season. They'll play another game for the championship in about 30 minutes that will decide the national champion. Their progress from last season to now has been unbelievable and shows what hard work, talent, and desire can do in the right combination.
Next post - California!

NCAA Training

The travel arrangements for the NCAA and Henley have all been finalized and now it's a question of making continual progress physically and technically as we move forward. Many thanks to the parents who have contributed to help all of the athletes make their way overseas.
This morning the varsity had a really encouraging row that exhibited some of the relaxation and ease of movement that had been lacking in the past four weeks. The second varsity should rebound with a sharper row this afternoon.

Ready for Quinsig
We're heading to Lake Quinsigamond tomorrow morning to race against Smith College and Mount Holyoke. The racing will begin at 8:20 and be finished by 9:40 AM. The river conditions have made rowing incredibly challenging in East Hartford with the Connecticut River being extremely high due to snow melt up north and some rain in the vicinity.
Now that we're finally approaching racing on a buoyed course it should be a blast to see how well we can execute our plan!
I look forward to seeing Friends of the program at the lake. We'll be boating out of the Donahue Rowing Center.
